GSHAS #5
Great win versus the blue Cubs team last night. We brought the sticks in a 16-12 win. Even though we played with a short left field fence, Charlie did a nice pitching job as he worked up in the zone and got lots of ground balls and fly outs. The bats were solid up and down the lineup- Ben had a nice triple in the RC gap, Chris D. hit a HR, and both Chrises, Pete, and Josh were lining shots down the third base line (I don’t think their third baseman was too eager to get in front of those balls). We were smart on the base paths (Josh, glad you were able to avoid my ball down the line- sorry about that), taking extra bases when available and making them make throws (several of which were wild). There was some nice glove work as well- Chris D. made a nice, sliding catch in LF, KC made several nice running catches, Danny filled in admirably at first base (unlike Ben, he can actually find the base and stay on it) including nice catches on balls from Jon L and Chris D., and Chris W. made a nice catch deep in LF to end the game (and communicated with Chris D. to avoid a collision). Rest up the for the DH next week, including the showdown between undefeated teams against our arch nemesis Deluxe Drapery!!
Now on for the count. We have hit the midseason point without anyone having to buy. If I missed something or have something wrong, correct me via the comments and I’ll update.

There is also the small matter of my not covering first on the ball in the hole that Tony fielded — he ended up trying to make the difficult out at 2B rather than a much easier 4-1 to get the batter.

Ah yes- I forgot about that one. I’ve adjusted the count accordingly. Man, I’m getting thirsty- I wonder if next week will put someone over the top.
