GSHAS #6, #7
Solid effort in getting a DH split last night. Our bats were slow to wake up in the first game against Deluxe Drapery- a narrow 6-2 loss (don’t worry, we get another shot at them the last game of the season). We bounced back in the second game against the Grumpy Old Hackers with a 13-1 win. I think that was the fastest DH in softball history. The defense was pretty solid all around with the OF making some exceptional plays. Chris D. made a nice sliding catch near the LF foul line and had a great running grab in the second game (in addition to getting hit by a thrown ball, softball karma again). Chris W. and KC also flashed the leather with some nice running catches. The IF play was pretty good too. Tony made an awesome bare-handed grab on a poor flip from me at 2B and nearly completed a DP. The corners got lots of work as well. Thanks to Matt and Ben for playing 1B- lots of action for you two yesterday. Matt showed some fancy glove and footwork around the bag in the first game, and Ben was solid in the second (see, it’s not so hard to find the bag). Charlie was a fielding machine on balls hit up the middle. Though we didn’t hit that well in the first game, we also hit into some bad luck as we hit lots of line drives that were caught (in fact, all three outs in one inning were line drives caught in the IF). Chris D. and Chris W. both smacked the ball around, playing pepper with the OF fence. KC had some key hits as well. In the second game, pretty much everyone hit. Tony was a line drive hitting machine- only to have every ball caught (and then Pete got in the way- see count below). Charlie had a nice line drive down the third base line, and Ben hacked his way to multiple, sideways-spinning hits (though several of us were cheering for that last 2 strike hit to drop foul- we’re thirsty).
Now on for the count. Several of us are in the “buy zone” so I’m guessing we’ll be enjoying cold beverages after the game soon- count on sticking around after the 6PM game on 7/11.

From my count, I believe that I’ve still got 2 karma returns coming to me. So, don’t sit next to me on the bench ’cause you never know when the stars align properly.

Doh!! Thanks for the warning. I don’t want to get caught in the middle or your karma payback. Stay safe (perhaps a helmet is in order- hee hee)!!

I think I’m still breathing hard after that double/triple/error. I think I need to stretch more in between pitches.
Oh.. btw.. I’ve got pictures of Audrey for those that are wonderful. John/Liz, I hope you don’t mind that I use your site for some shameless pumping. Head on over to home.comcast.net/~wucombs
My website building skills are kinda lame, so bear with me. =) And please sign the guestbook if you do visit. We’d like to print and show that to Audrey some day.
