GSHAS Fall #6
Good effort against the The Barristers (from Ave Maria) last night. Our bats went a little cold like the weather in a 14-7 loss. Overall we didn’t play badly but we just couldn’t get that big hit to drive in runs. Their pitcher was super wild, and we took advantage of that with a few walks (and maybe could have had a few more) but never really could string enough hits together. The defense was pretty solid on a night when the wind was really playing games with fly balls in the OF. KC had a nice, juggling catch to end an inning and Tony was fundamentally sound at second base. Jon, Chaz, and Chris W. turned an awesome 5-3-2 DP to end another inning. Not too much to say about the bats- they were a bit quiet and we hit into some bad luck. Chris W. ripped a ball down the LF line, and Pete (Robert Bork- hee hee) finally got a pitch to hit after two walks and smoked a ball down the 3B line, and Tony and Ron provided good sticks at the top of the lineup. Thanks to Andrea who covered for us in the first inning so that we could play with 9 (should we assess points to our late arrivers?). Much appreciated!!
OK- on to the scoring. I’ve tried to put in the things that I remember but feel free to add/edit via the comments and I’ll update. Danny has become the first OF to reach the magic number (congratulations). Since we have a late game next week, we’ll defer the drinks a bit but don’t worry, we’ll be drinking.
