GSHAS Fall #9, #10
Here is Charlie’s summary from the final two games of the GSHAS fall season. Sorry that I missed it!! Good job in a very competitive fall league.
The Game Show Hosts ended the season with a wild double-header split against Team Allergy. Normally, 40 runs in 10 inning would be more than enough for two victories. But, in the first game, after scoring “only” seven runs over the first three innings, Team Allergy scored 20 in the next three, to seal a 27-13 win. By the second game, the stars were back in proper alignment, and the GSH prevailed by 22-4 in four innings. Josh led the offense, with 6/7 plus a walk, hitting in the leadoff spot. Tony was diving left and right for balls all night at short; he and Chaz started one double play (officially) and would have had a second had instant replay been available. Chaz and Mel played through leg injuries (and maxed the strain by hitting well in the second game). Last, not least, the Hosts kept their reputation for sportsmanship through an unusual number of creative calls on the bases.
Based on Charlie’s input (as always, dispute via comments), here are the final points for the season (sorry I missed Chaz’s yummy beverages). All in all, I think this thing worked out well- we enjoyed some post-game refreshments and had some fun. Jon L. will be providing the first round of beverages at our post-season get-together (not this weekend- stay tuned). As we move forward, we might want to discuss any potential modifications to the points, etc. and also decide if we want to carry the points over to next year (I vote “yes”). Feel free to post your thoughts in the comments.

I made a throwing error in the first game (although it took a nice roll down the third base fense and around the backstop). +1 for me. I’ll bring beers the the first game of next season!

I overthrew Chaz one time letting a runner go from first to second…I also threw the ball out of bounds on a throw home…I guess that is +2 in addition to the double play. D’oh!

Chris- thanks for letting me know. I changed the scoring accordingly. Man, all of a sudden we’ve got lots of people ready to provide cold beverages. We’ll have to sort this out at our post-season get together and at the beginning of next season.
