GSHAS Fall #5, #6
Great job in a DH sweep over Sampier Vac last night. We nearly shut them out in the first game 7-1 (Charlie nearly received the bonus point for a shutout but served up a fat pitch with 2 outs and a runner on 3B). Both teams hit more in the second game with a final score of roughly 15-7. That team sure had did some interesting baserunning. Our gloves were outstanding all night- the left side of the field dealt with some tough sun early, Matt C. made several nice running catches in RF, the IF had tons of putouts including 7 straight ground balls to start the first game (and if I wouldn’t have thrown the ball crazily probalby would have turned some DPs), Todd made a great throw home to Chris D who fired to 3B to catch a runner in no-mans land, and Tony made a nice throw to first to catch another wayward runner (and managed to play both games with an injured ankle after a runner tried to break up a DP in the first). The bats were solid too- Matt C. broke in his new orange Demarini with several hits, Jon L.’s ridiculous hitting streak finally ended but not before a few hits before and after, Chaz had several hits (including a very confusing fly ball double), Chris D. really hit the ball hard and finally got some balls to drop, and Jesse hit some screaming balls in the second game including a deep fly out to LF that would have been far gone without a stiff wind. Thanks to Jon L. and Chris D. who played injured (and to those who ran for them on the bases) and for our intrepid fans who braved the cold and wind to cheer us on!!
Here are this week’s points assessements- as always, feel free to comment. We enjoyed some fine postgame refreshments courtesy of me and will also enjoy some next week from Ben. So, be sure to stick around after the game!!

I guess I don’t get any more negative points for good throws anymore

Chris- I knew you were going to ask that question. Of course you get credit for good throws but I figured that, despite the fact that it was a very nice throw, you wouldn’t want credit for a throw from half way between third and home to third. Hee hee…

I think I should get a negative point for throwing strikes after not pitching for 3 years. =)

Hmm, not sure about that. Pitching points are assessed for walks and HRs (not 1 for 1 given some of the hitters in this league) and negative points for Ks. Strikes are assumed (you are pitching underhand after all). I think you were point-free in your first pitching outing. Did you walk anyone? I remember going to three balls on one guy but don’t remember a walk. Anyhow, I was going to grant you a pass and not assess any points for walks (for this week).
